Classroom-to-Career Connections

In anticipation of our new Career Center opening in the fall, we are always looking for passionate business professionals to partner with to build classroom-to-career connections! We were happy to host the Cortland Chamber’s Business After Hours event in our STEAM lab this May to do just that! 

It was a wonderful evening of great conversations and connections being made between our STEAM teachers and students and local business professionals. Our students showcased the knowledge and skills they have gained through the hands-on experiences in the various programs (Building Trades, Health Sciences, Communications & Media Arts, Agriculture, and Computer Science). 

Over forty professionals were present and nearly all expressed their awe and excitement about what we are doing at Groton for our students. Many were interested in discussing ways in which they could support the goal of building more classroom-to-career connections as either guest speakers, advisors for industry alignment to curriculum, mentors, or hosts for job shadows and site tours.
