Groton Distinguished Graduate Hall of Fame

History of the Hall of Fame

The Groton High School Chapter of the National Honor Society began the Hall of Fame program in 2010 as a way to promote academic achievement, inspire current students, and honor our own alumni. Located in the main lobby of the High School, the Hall of Fame already pays tribute to the accomplishments of fifteen of Groton’s finest, and counting. The current members of the NHS accept and review nominations each year making their final selection(s) by a majority vote. Nominees are then invited to attend the annual Banquet of Academic Excellence as our guest of honor, keynote speaker, and to be presented their award.

Nominee Selection

Nominees are selected for induction into the Hall of Fame based on their outstanding character, contributions to their profession, and or their extraordinary service to the community. The Groton Chapter of the National Honor Society will annually select a maximum of two inductees from its pool of applicants. The NHS will review all applications and makes its selections by a majority vote after February 1st of each year. The decisions of the NHS, in every case, are final, and members will not discuss decisions. The applications of nominees not chosen in a given year will be kept on file and reviewed each year after.
