Our Little Readers kicked off their reading journey this week by choosing a book they love and creating their very own book review! Using our 5-star rating system, students shared what they enjoyed most about their stories and why they’d recommend them to others.
Their reviews are proudly displayed in the hallway outside the library so everyone can enjoy and get inspired to read something new! ❤️
Keep reading, Little Redhawks! 📖🦅

Yesterday was a special day for our 5th Grade Leaders Club students! Some of them had the opportunity to visit the Groton Community Health Care Center and meet their pen pals in person for the first time — and it was truly heartwarming.
The residents baked fresh banana bread for everyone to enjoy together, and one especially sweet moment was watching Ryder and his pen pal exchange gifts — he made her a bracelet, and she made him a beautiful sun catcher.
Two weeks ago, our students mailed their first letters, and yesterday they received their handwritten responses. Next week, we’ll continue our letter writing — building friendships, practicing kindness, and strengthening our connection with our community’s older residents.
We’re already looking forward to our December visit, when we’ll decorate cookies together for the holidays! 🎄🍪
We are so proud of our Leaders Club and the positive impact they are making in Groton. ❤️

Through our 21st Century Grant Program, students in our ASL Club have been learning how to communicate in amazing new ways! 🙌
So far, we’ve practiced signing the alphabet, numbers, colors, friendly greetings, family, and emotions — and we’re getting really good at our receptive ASL skills too! 💬
Some of our favorite activities include ASL Bingo and Jeopardy, where students get to show off their growing knowledge while having fun with friends. 💡👏
We’re so proud of our students’ enthusiasm and dedication to learning American Sign Language — a skill that helps make our school community more inclusive and connected. 💙🤟
📸 Check out some photos of our amazing signers in action below!

Groton Elementary Families,
The parade is ON! After reviewing the radar and hourly forecast, it looks like we’ll have light rain during the parade. Please be sure to bring rain jackets and umbrellas just in case.
This year, students will make two loops around the route so everyone can see their student(s). If the weather shifts, we may adjust to one loop.
If you’ve sent in a note to pick up your student after the parade, please sign them out in the GES Gymnasium once doors open at approximately 2:20 PM. After signing out by last name, you’ll move to the opposite side of the partitioned gym to pick up your student(s). This new setup should help keep everyone out of the rain.
We kindly ask that only ONE adult per family enter the gym to sign out and pick up students due to limited space.
***UPK–3 families: Please follow directions from Mr. Lockwood.
Important: All cars must be moved from the bus loop in front of the gym by 2:50 PM to allow buses to arrive for dismissal.
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Our students are so excited to show off their costumes — it’s going to be a great parade day at Groton Elementary!
