Happy Monday, Groton Redhawks! 🦃❤️
Our Groton Elementary Leaders Club has been hard at work on a special Positivity Project (P2) activity all about gratitude.
Each class helped create a giant turkey for our cafeteria wall by adding colorful “feathers” that share what our students are thankful for—family, friends, teachers, pets, and so much more. 🖍️✨
These turkeys are a sweet reminder that even in a busy season, we have so many reasons to be grateful.

We are in our fourth week of Imagine That! We have been reading the entire Ada Twist, Scientist books series which has taught and inspired us in so many ways. We are enjoying sensory play, process art and open-ended constructive activities to engage the imagination and encourage creativity! We even opened our own restaurant! Our favorite part of the program is when we get out the independent drawing journals. During this time, kids get to draw anything at all that inspires them and will bring them home when program ends!

We are 5 weeks into Tiny Adventures! Every week we have engaged the senses in new ways by playing in foam, playdoh, kinetic sand and pumpkins guts. We have been building our fine motor skills by rescuing animals trapped in foil, having Pom-Pom races, giving “troll haircuts” and cutting up leaves, flowers and vines. We also have been working together to build bridges with legos, have puppet shows, share flower bouquets and construct houses for our animals!

📚 Little Readers Club | 21st Century Programming 🐛✨
This week, our Little Readers got crafty! Students designed two bookmarks—one to keep for themselves and one to place in our library’s bookmark container for any reader who might need one. We love seeing them give back to our reading community!
They also created their very own bookworms, adorable reading buddies who love being read to. These little companions are already helping spark joy during independent reading time!
We’re proud of our Little Readers for showing creativity, kindness, and a love of reading. 💙📖

5th Grade Leaders Club — Pen Pal Visit at Groton Community Health Care Center 🍌💌
Yesterday was a special day for our 5th Grade Leaders Club students! Some of them had the opportunity to visit the Groton Community Health Care Center and meet their pen pals in person for the first time — and it was truly heartwarming.
The residents baked fresh banana bread for everyone to enjoy together, and one especially sweet moment was watching Ryder and his pen pal exchange gifts — he made her a bracelet, and she made him a beautiful sun catcher.
Two weeks ago, our students mailed their first letters, and yesterday they received their handwritten responses. Next week, we’ll continue our letter writing — building friendships, practicing kindness, and strengthening our connection with our community’s older residents.
We’re already looking forward to our December visit, when we’ll decorate cookies together for the holidays! 🎄🍪
We are so proud of our Leaders Club and the positive impact they are making in Groton. ❤️
